Christmas Dining Style

Christmas styling while you dine...

What’s your dining style this Christmas?

It’s Christmas day and you have invited family and friends to share the day with you, how do you make your dining area feel special and stylish but still have the capacity to cater for all the extra people. We are rather fond of decorations that float above the dinner table, creating a cosy winter wonderland while you tuck into your roast turkey and sip your bubbles!

There are multiple design and practical benefits to this style. Firstly, it can look fabulous and fresh. Take this beautiful space below, a branch has been hung over the table and adorned with lights and baubles, drawing the eye to the table and creating atmosphere. The whole look is then complimented with indulgent sheepskin rugs, that add texture, and then only simple, subtle foliage, is actually placed on the dining table.

Beautiful Christmas table setting with hanging lights & baubles, lots of textures & soft warm whites.

This has created a stylish Christmas theme with a touch of subtle glamor that could work in any home, all with a very clean palette of colours. Other inspiration can come in different forms - we can’t get enough of this extravagant table setting with opulent pampas grasses, beautiful ribbons and baubles.

Pampas Grass, ribbons and baubles make a striking alternative to a traditional floral place setting.

Secondly, a hanging centrepiece also frees up the table for all that delicious food that is going to be served and enables you to have space at the table for hosting all the extra guests. The image below illustrates this perfectly – rather than taking up limited space on the table with a large, more traditional, centrepiece the decoration above the table adds Christmas style whilst also being functional.

Christmas foliage with mini parcels and baubles hanging above a table - Candles are the only decoration on the actual table.

The twinkling fairy lights mean that candles, whilst always a welcome addition to the dining table, are not a necessity. Christmas is also a perfect time to branch out from your usual colour palette. The warm orange injects a cosy winter feel into the space and all the rustic detailing adds warmth and depth to the dining area.

Twinkling golden stars and oranges embedded with cloves to give beautiful aroma, hung from a silver birch branch bring a feeling of Narnia to this festive table setting.

This table is very welcoming and ready for the guests to dive into a delicious festive lunch. We also love the little details, such as the ginger biscuits with place names on them and the simple star resting on it, even the drinks are co-ordinated! Get your creativity flowing with your family by re-creating this beautiful style.

Finally, you have the perfect table setting and your home is looking beautiful and festive, ready to welcome your guests but now you don’t want to ruin the look by cramming in lots of unsightly temporary chairs. You’ll be pleased to know that there is a much more stylish option! This season is all about entertaining and when you add your seating pouf and there are so many to choose from in a vast range of beautiful fabrics, textures and finishes. We’ve selected a few of our favourites:

Take your pick from a wide range of poufs – whether you like tassels or gold detailing, velvet or leather the choice is endless.

So that’s the table set and the festive atmosphere created. A simple centrepiece will create a memorable space for yourself and guests to enjoy. Now all you need to do is focus on getting the food on the table and start shopping for your glamorous Christmas outfit!
